Requity’s 2024 Organizational Highlights

Student-Centered Impact

  • Empowering the Next Generation:

    • Trained 55 students across three high schools in Baltimore City and County.

    • Engaged students in six trades: Masonry, Carpentry, Electrical, Culinary Arts, Media, and Business.

    • Students earned 37+ certifications and licenses, including OSHA 10, OSHA 30, CPR, MVA, and ServSafe.

    • Developed professional toolkits, including resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles, to prepare students for career success.

  • Job Placements and Pathway Partners:

    • Secured career opportunities for 15 students, placing them in internships, apprenticeships, and full-time jobs.

    • Pathway Partners (Placement Companies): BGE, Love & Cornbread, MCB Real Estate, Cornish, Urban Alliance, P. Flanigan & Sons

  • Hands-On Learning at Carver House:

    • Students applied their learning to foundational work, including masonry and carpentry.

    • Integrated and tested sustainable, high-performance building techniques.

  • $1 Million Revenue Milestone:

    • Requity’s revenue exceeded $1 million for the first time, totaling $1,088,810.27 (2023: $235,798.69).

    • Revenue Breakdown:

      • Company Donations: 6% | $67,000

      • Individual Contributions: 15% | $160,000

      • Grant Revenue: 78% | $852,000

      • Product & Service Revenue: 1% | $10,000

  • Department of Energy Award:

    • Recognized with a Community Energy Innovation Top DOE Award Prize, further solidifying Requity’s leadership in sustainable and community-focused programming.

  • Expanded Program Delivery:

    • Operational expenses (OPEX) totaled $846,991.10 (2023: $293,871.66), reflecting significant growth in program delivery and impact.

Programmatic Growth

  • Apprenticeship Maryland Program:

    • Launched first-ever Apprenticeship Maryland Programs fields in Baltimore City, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Labor and Baltimore City Schools.

    • Connected students to hands-on learning opportunities, industry-recognized credentials, and workforce pathways.

  • Entrepreneurial Initiatives:

    • Generated nearly $10,000 in revenue through ventures like:

      • Requity Masonry: Providing masonry services for small projects.

      • Requity Business: Snowball and bake stands, fostering business and customer service skills.

      • Catering Services: Delivering catering for events, offering culinary and event planning experience.

      • Media Production: Generated revenue through media services.

Community Engagement

  • Food Access:

    • Rescued over 4,000 lbs of food to support programs.

    • Served 2,400+ meals through the We All Eat Wednesdays initiative.

  • Community Support:

    • Distributed over 120 loaded backpacks during the Back-to-School Drive.

    • Delivered over 90 Thanksgiving baskets to families in need during the Thanksgiving Giveaway.

  • Environmental Impact:

    • Removed 6,000+ lbs of trash during neighborhood clean-up efforts.

    • Secured a 0.67-acre lot to develop a nature space, urban farm, and community garden.

Partnerships

  • Collaborated with Baltimore City Schools, Maryland Department of Labor, Grow Home, WaterBottle, Division Street Landscaping, and local small businesses to expand impact.

  • Received continued funding and support from partners like T. Rowe Price Foundation, Lockhart Vaughn Foundation, and corporate collaborators.

Grant Writing & Recognition

  • Grant Applications: Submitted 33 grants, with a success rate of 48% (16 awarded).

  • Funding Secured: Received 11% of the total available dollars from grants ($817,261).

  • Recognized success in three rounds of the American HeroX challenge.
