MCCEI 2024 “Built Environment Hero” Named
This Built Environment Hero award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the future workforce of the Maryland Construction Industry. This winner challenges the status quo, encourages diversity, and serves as beacons of positive change.
This year’s winner is Michael Rosenband founder and Executive Director of Requity. So - the story goes like this: a graduate of the historic Carver Vocational-Technical High School in Baltimore City met “Coach Mike” and asked “Why can’t we use what we are learning in school, to rehab the run-down houses across the street?” This student’s question planted a seed that inspired the formation of Requity. Requity was co-founded by Michael Rosenband and that graduate Sterling Hardy as a nonprofit organization in 2020 with the intent to provide comprehensive, critical, and collaborative support and resources to people in a community impacted by historic disinvestment. It’s a charitable and educational organization established to promote sustainable community development by investing in people and projects focused on social, economic, and environmental returns. The Maryland industry is so lucky to have a thought leader with such a heart like Michael.
